Need Help? You’re in Good Company!

Sometimes people who need a little help with a spiritual or relational problem are embarrassed because they think they should be able to handle all of their problems on their own. So let’s take a look at some of the great characters of the Bible who needed help with various issues in their life. Maybe some of these are a little like you:

  • Hagar – She had been abandoned by her son’s father and sent adrift in a barren wilderness, and she felt like she and her son were going to die, until God came to her and helped her find the resources to go on (Genesis 21:8-21).
  • Moses – He was trying to take care of everyone else’s problems and it was weighing him down. So Jethro, his father-in-law taught him to delegate (Exodus 18:13-24).
  • Elijah – He felt alone and tired of life, but God helped him find a new purpose and supportive friends (1 Kings 19:13-18).
  • Naomi – She had lost her husband and two sons, and God sent her Ruth to support her and share her burdens (Ruth 1:1-18).
  • Hannah – She was barren and God gave her a supportive husband and a priest who helped her find answered prayer (1 Samuel 1:1-20).
  • Nicodemus – Nicodemus was a respected Jewish leader, but he felt spiritually lost until he came to Jesus one night and had the courage to ask questions (John 3:1-17)
  • Mary Magdalene – Mary was “possessed by evil spirits” until she came to Jesus and he cast them out (Luke 8:1-3).
  • The Ethiopian Eunuch – This high official in Ethiopia simply was having trouble understanding the Bible and what it meant for him, until God sent him Phillip, and he was able to get his questions answered (Acts 8:26-39).
  • Peter – Peter was in prison, scheduled to be executed, but his friends were praying for him, and God sent an angel to deliver him (Acts 12: 6-17).
  • Paul – When Paul was first converted, many Christians didn’t trust him. They didn’t believe he had really changed. Then God sent him Barnabas to be his advocate (Acts 9:21-30).

If these people weren’t too sophisticated and together to ask for help, neither are you! Why not give us a call today?
